Counsellors can provide a different type of relationship and perspective that is unique and specialized. We often get caught up in our current way of being and thinking which can sometimes make us feel “stuck”. Counsellors are trained to identify and target problematic thinking so that positive changes can be made. Often we cannot change a situation, but we have the power and ability to change the way we react to a situation. Counsellors can help you process a situation (past/present/or future) and help you determine the most effective and appropriate way to respond to help alleviate further suffering.
The counselling process is unique to each person. People seek counselling for many different reasons . You may seek counselling because you or your family have experienced a traumatic event. You may be seeking professional guidance, a forum for self-reflection or to challenge yourself and your thoughts. You may be experiencing a time in your life where you are feeling confused, lacking direction or feeling like you have lost sight of yourself and what is important to you. Whatever the reason, finding the right fit with a counsellor who is supportive, yet challenges you to think in new ways can be a life changing process.
